Halloween has always been the time of year where hundreds upon hundreds of horror movies are thrust in our faces, this year pickings were slim with almost every film lacking originality or a decent cast. Much like the Final Destination franchise, Saw is another horror franchise that should have quit years ago proven by this medicore effort.
There are plenty of positives to this film unlike previous Saw instalments and has a much darker tone and message. In the film it appears as though the writers have decided to take on the American healthcare system with the majority of the victims being involved with fictional health insurance company Umbrella. Saw 6 may be a horror film Michael Moore would greatly enjoy.
There are two major twists in this taste of gore porn and for a welcome change one isn’t forced in our faces from the opening shot. The traps are decent however verging on extremely implausible. The usual critiques to a Saw film also apply; bad acting, little suspense, laughable logic and no major thrills by people who clearly have little skills when it comes to film making.
Overall it’s not as confusing as Saw IV, not as pure garbage and waste of time Saw V but obviously no where near as good as the original Saw which boasted a great script, great cast and oozed originality. Saw VI oozes mass amounts of blood and finally answers some of the questions previous instalments has left us with in this decently bad Saw VI.
