R.I.P. Miramax

Today (28th Jan) sees Disney closing both the LA and New York offices of the independent arthouse movie studio, therefore putting 80 people out of jobs.

The company, started by brothers Harvey and Bob Weinstein over 31 years ago, brought us such films as ‘Clerks’, ‘Pulp Fiction’, ‘Swingers’, ‘City Of God’, ‘Good Will Hunting’, ‘Gangs Of New York’, ‘No Country For Old Men’ and ‘Kill Bill’ Volume 1 and 2.

Miramax was later bought over by Disney before Harvey and Bob left to start up The Weinstein Company.  You can read more about it here.
